10 years ago we travelled to Tokyo and Kyoto for a month-long trip. And lets just say that our love of Japan will most certainly stay with us until our next trip. The people, culture, art and most of all the car culture still amazes us. As you may have already noticed, a lot of our features are Japanese motors. It is totally awesome to say the least, and hopefully we will be visiting again next year.
We first spotted Hotaka Saito’s (aka REDHOT) 1968 – 912 porsche/ type 3 fastback custom, a few years ago while looking at Street VW’S (Japan’s no.1 vw magazine). Rothfink Industries not only knows Hotaka for this super-cool super-rad custom porsche but also we are big fans of his artwork (he draws for Street VW Magazine #jp, Rothfink friends and also for our favourite show European Buggin. Hotaka has owned his 913 from 2003 and completed it in 2008 – it runs a 1582cc engine which basically the same as a porsche 912 (1968 model) with a Karmann made body, the body mods were done over 5 years at ZIP Speed.
Hotaka’s 913 ride has far too many modifications to list, so just try and visualise a stock 911 or 912 and then take look at RedHot’s creation in contrast; there’s something new to see at every glance. Basically the only original features remaining from the 912 are the roof, the glass, the interior, plus the running gear and floor pan. Almost the whole outer body skin has been custom-made. And that’s not all; a Porsche engine is normally cooled via a grille in the rear bootlid, but the Type3 Fastback has louvres on the rear wings (fenders). So to get the look right meant that ducts had to be configured to direct enough air at the engine to prevent it running hot.

Hotaka ha sido dueño de su 913 entre 2003 y terminado en 2008 – se ejecuta un motor de 1582cc Cuál de básicamente lo mismo que un (modelo 1968) Porsche 912 con un cuerpo hecho de Karmann, los mods del cuerpo se hicieron más de 5 años a la velocidad postal.
913 paseo de Hotaka tiene demasiadas modificaciones en la lista, por lo que sólo tratar de visualizar una acción 911 o 912 y luego tomar mirar a la creación de RedHot en contraste; hay algo nuevo que ver en cada mirada. Básicamente las únicas características originales restantes del 912 son el techo, el vidrio, el interior, además de la marcha y el cárter inferior en funcionamiento. Casi toda la piel del cuerpo exterior se ha hecho a medida. Y eso no es todo; un motor de Porsche se enfría normalmente a través de una rejilla en la tapa del maletero trasero, pero el Tipo 3 Fastback tiene lamas en las alas traseras (defensas). Así que para obtener el derecho de mirada significaba hizo conductos tuvieron que ser configurado para dirigir el aire suficiente al motor para evitar funcionando caliente.
